SNOW DAY LEARNING

Well who would have thought it? SNOW in November!

After you have been out and enjoyed the beauty of the landscape, made a snowman, had a snowball fight or even sledged - tuck up with a nice hot chocolate and complete the home learning tasks.

Watch this fascinating video to find out who first photographed a snowflake:

Snowflake Photographer

(Inside Science) -- Snowflakes. They are beautiful and fragile -- and very difficult to photograph. But that didn't stop one scientist from trying. Can you imagine how hard it would be to photograph a teeny-tiny, individual snowflake crystal? Then imagine the challenges that Wilson Bentley faced back in the late 1800s and early 1900s.

SCIENCE : Have a try at doing this frozen bubble experiment

You will need:

1 cup water

2 tablespoons washing up liquid

2 tablespoons glycerine

a drinking straw

a very still area outside in below 0C (this doesn't work if there is a breeze)

Ice Bubble Magic: with watermark

This is a compilation of many ice bubbles, some stay while others last for only a few seconds. They're fragile, mystical creatures, so sit back and enjoy Mother Nature's endless magic.

Scientists at work...

So down in the KS2 science laboratory,  investigations into reversible and irreversible changes caused by energy ( heat) or chemical change have kept our mini scientists enthralled. They made  casin plastic which was used from 1900 to 40's for buckles and buttons etc. A milk based product!
