Reading Adventure Day - Spring 2 term 2024

We had a fantastic trip to Treak Cliff Cavern this term.  We learnt all about the mining of Blue John Crystals and the Kriniod fossils that were hidden in the walls!  The children polished a piece of Blue John Crystal too!

After our trip the children used the day as their inspiration for our poetry reading adventure day and created some fantastic class poetry!

Chinese New Year dance workshop

To celebrate Chinese New Year we had a workshop from West End in Schools who taught us a dance all about the origins of the animal signs and some history around Chinese New Year.  The children really enjoyed the dance and completed it extremely well!

Chinese artefacts

Some of our students were kind enough to bring authentic chinese artefacts into school for the other children to look at.  The dragon in particular was spectacular!

Our Key Stage Two children receiving a'School Climate Action' award - well done.

Correspondence from the Royal Family

After the sad loss of our Queen this year we wanted to do something kind for the royal family.  KS1 and EYFS made cards of condolence and sent them to Buckingham palace to show our sorrow for their loss.  The king himself replied to our letters and sent us a card of thanks.  We were extremely happy and proud to receive such a lovely token from King Charles.
