School Meals
At Castleton C of E Primary School, pupils can choose to have a school meal or bring a packed lunch from home.
Our school meals are provided by Derbyshire County Council Catering Services, who deliver freshly prepared meals to school every day. Their service offers:
- Freshly prepared meals each day
- Menus that meet and exceed School Food Standards
- Tailored support for schools
- Full compliance with statutory requirements
- A trusted, locally focused catering team
School meals currently cost £3.25 per day.
Free School Meals
All children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 are entitled to a free school meal through the Government's Universal Infant Free School Meals (UIFSM) scheme.
In addition, children aged 3 to 18 may be eligible for benefits-related Free School Meals if their family receives:
- Universal Credit
- Income-based Pension Credit
- Support under the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999
- Support as a family with No Recourse to Public Funds (NRPF)
If you think your child may be eligible, we encourage you to apply, as this can also provide additional funding to support the school.
Packed Lunches
If your child brings a packed lunch, we ask that it is healthy and well balanced. Helpful ideas and guidance can be found on the NHS website:
